Choosing the right antiemetic
Does the patient have cardiovascular problems? Is he or she undergoing potentially cardiotoxic treatment? Arrow right Choose an antiemetic with no cardiovascular warnings  

Is the patient taking more than one medication (including over-the-counter or herbal medicines)?

Arrow right Choose an antiemetic with the lowest risk of possible drug–drug interactions (e.g. one not metabolized through the CYP2D6 pathway)  
Is the patient on antidepressant medication? Arrow right Avoid antiemetics with a known interaction with antidepressants  
Does the patient have renal or hepatic disease? Arrow right Choose an antiemetic with no dose adjustment required in hepatically or renally impaired patients  
  Is the patient thin, physically weak and/or at risk of falling? Arrow right Choose an antiemetic with low potential to cause dizziness and abnormal vision  
Does the patient have cognitive impairments? Could they forget to take their prescribed antiemetic? Arrow right Choose an antiemetic with a convenient, once-daily dosing regimen  
Does the patient live alone? Arrow right Choose an antiemetic with a convenient, once-daily dosing regimen and the least additive complications  
Does the patient drive? Arrow right Choose an antiemetic with low potential to cause dizziness and abnormal vision
