What should you tell your doctor/nurse?

What to consider ...   If yes, ask your doctor
Do you have a history of heart problems (e.g. angina) Arrow right Ask for an antiemetic that does not have a cardiovascular warning  

Are you taking

  • more than one prescription drug?
  • over-the-counter drugs?
  • herbal medications?
Arrow right Ask for an antiemetic that has the lowest risk of causing 'drug-drug interactions' *  
Are you taking antidepressants? Arrow right Ask for an antiemetic that has not been shown to interact with your antidepressant  
Do you have a history of kidney/liver problems? Arrow right Tell your doctor as they may need to alter the dose of your antiemetic  
  Do you ever feel dizzy and unsteady on your feet? Arrow right Ask for an antiemetic that has little risk of causing dizziness and abnormal vision  
Are you worried that you may forget to take your antiemetic medication? Arrow right Ask for an antiemetic that you only need to take once a day  
Do you live on your own? Arrow right Ask for an antiemetic that is easy to take, with the lowest risk of additional side-effects  
Do you have trouble sleeping? Arrow right Ask for an antiemetic that will continue working for 24 hours, to avoid feeling or being sick at night  
  * A drug-drug interaction is when one of the medicines you are taking has an effect on one of your other medicines. This may affect the drug's effectiveness or cause an unwanted reaction.
